SENATOR LUJAN CALLS FOR EQUALITY ON AGENT ORANGE DISABILITY COMPENSATION

(Hagåtña, Guam) – Today, Senator Jesse Lujan, along with co-sponsors Senators Frank Blas Jr., Telo T. Taitague, Tina Rose Muña Barnes, Christopher M. Dueñas, William A. Parkinson, Joanne Brown, Dwayne T. D. San Nicolas, Roy A. B. Quinata, and Sabina Flores Perez,  introduced Resolution No.29-37, which calls for the U.S. Congress to appropriate monies for Guam non-military residents who were exposed to Agent Orange and who are suffering from ailments caused by exposure to Agent Orange.

The intent of the resolution is for non-military residents of Guam to receive recognition for their suffering due to Agent Orange exposure, as their military counterparts finally did with the passing of the “PACT Act” of 2022.

It was a real battle to get the US military and US Government to recognize Agent Orange exposure on Guam. The Veterans deserve the recognition and compensation available with the passage PACT Act. Now we must fight for the non-military civilians and residents of Guam who were also exposed to Agent Orange, and make sure that these residents are eligible for similar recognition and compensation,” Lujan stated.

“This resolution is the first step in asking the US Congress and the Biden administration to include non-military civilians and residents of Guam who were exposed to Agent Orange. They also deserve justice and dignity,” Lujan concluded.
